Mechanical engineering is a branch of
engineering that applies the principles of engineering,
materials science for analysis
and physics, manufacturing, design, and maintenance of mechanical
systems and machines. One of the
broadest and oldest disciplines of engineering involves the
production and usage of heat and
mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of
energy, machines and tools. The engineering field requires an understanding
of core concepts
including
thermodynamics, mechanics, kinematics, materials science, structural analysis,
and
electricity. Mechanical engineers
use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided
engineering(CAD & CAM), and
product lifecycle management to design and analyze industrial
equipment, manufacturing plants
and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems,
aircraft, watercraft, robotics,
medical devices, weapons and others. Mechanical
engineering emerged
as a complete different but
related vast field during the industrial revolution in Europe in the 18th
century. Mechanical engineering as a science emerged
in the 19th century as a result of
developments in the field of
physics. This field has continually evolved to incorporate advancements
in technology, and mechanical engineers today are pursuing developments
in such fields as
composites, nanotechnology, and electromechanics. It overlaps with metallurgical, aerospace,
manufacturing, civilengineering,
petroleum, electrical, chemical and other engineering disciplines to varying amounts. Mechanical engineers may also nurture their
career in the arena of Biomedical engineering,
specifically with biomechanics, transport phenomena, biomechatronics,
bionanotechnology and modeling of
biological systems, like soft tissue mechanics.
In
India job in this field is considered as an evergreen disciplines and filled
with good job
opportunities. There are Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 mechanical engineering colleges in India.
IIT(Indian Institute of Technology) is a
government funded college of national importance comes under the categories of teir-1. These Institutions are
of high standard and world class facilities and faculties. Students passed from these institutions are
placed globally on a higher package in various international organizations and multi national
companies(MNCs).
NITs(National Institute of Technology) comes
under Tier-2 colleges. These colleges are funded by
state government and are of high
standards and consists of world class faculties and facilities.
students passed from NITs got
opportunities in various world class organizations. In Tier-3 colleges
there are various private funded
colleges. Some of these colleges provides good infrastructure and
placement opportunities in big
corporate giants. Mechanical engineering colleges in delhi ncr are equipped with state of the
art laborataries and world renowned professors who combinedly helps in nurturing career of their students. Top
engineering colleges in delhi ncr have their tie-up with mechanical companies
like Hero, Honda, Bajaj, Maruti, Suzuki, Larsen & Turbo etc. and may help in
getting their students placed early as compared to colleges in other part of
the country.
