Management education in India


India's higher education system is the third largest in the world, next to United States and China. The main governing body at the tertiary level is the University Grants Commission, which enforces its standards, advises the government, and helps coordinate between the centre and the state.Indian higher education system has expanded at a fast pace by adding nearly 20,000 colleges and more than 8 million students in a decade from 2000-01 to 2010-11.As of 2011, India has 42 central universities, 275 state universities, 130 deemed universities, 90 private universities, 5 institutions established and functioning under the State Act, and 33 Institutes of National Importance.Other institutions include 33,000 colleges as Government Degree Colleges and Private Degree Colleges, including 1800 exclusive women's colleges, functioning under these universities and institutions as reported by the UGC in 2012. The emphasis in the tertiary level of education lies on science & technology and Management education in India .Indian educational institutions by 2004 consisted of a large number of technology and management institutes. Distance learning and open education is also a feature of the Indian higher education system, and is looked after by the Distance Education Council.
 After the globalization of the Indian economy, corporate felt large need of Management Institutes inIndia which in turn responsible for an increase in Management colleges in Delhi ncr".
 To fulfill the demand of skilled managers in the corporate world and to fill the gap between demand and supply of trained professionals there is a growth of business management institutes in India to offer quality education in fulfilling the growing need of management professionals.
 The management degrees offered in India are:-
=>MBA (Masters of Business Administration):-
      The Master of Business Administration (MBA or M.B.A.) is a master's degree in business administration, which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines. The MBA designation originated in the United States, emerging from the late 19th century as the country industrialized and companies sought out scientific approaches to management. The core courses in the MBA program are designed to introduce students to the various areas of business such as MBA in accounting, MBA in finance, MBA in marketing,MBA in human resources,MBA in operations management,etc.. Students in MBA programs have the option of taking general business courses throughout the program or can select an area of concentration and focus approximately one-fourth of their studies in this subject.
Accreditation bodies exist specifically for MBA programs to ensure consistency and quality of graduate business education. Business schools in India offer MBA programs tailored to full-time, part-time, executive, and distance learning students, with specialized concentrations. The duration for the regular MBA course is 2 years in most countries.
=>BBA (Bachelor's in business Administration):-
     The Bachelor's in business administration (BBA or B.B.A.) is a bachelor's degree in business administration, which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines. The duration for BBA in India is 3 years.
=>PGDM (Post graduate diploma in management):-
     PGDM is offered under the regulatory guidance of AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education). PGDM in Delhi ncr is about the 2 years duration.

   Students seeking admissions to the MBA colleges in Delhi ncr  have to appear and qualify for the entrance examinations like CAT (Common admission test), MAT (Management Aptitude test), XAT etc.. These examinations are considered as the gateway for admission to MBA, PGDM etc. management related courses. After clearing one of the above test aspiring students should have to appear in group discussion, personal interview, etc. depending on the procedure of the particular colleges.
